These sanitary articles must not be missing in any accessible bathroom
Accessible bathroom products allow every person, regardless of age or physical condition, a largely independent use of the most intimate space. A accessible bathroom offers above all living comfort, and that for everyone. Accordingly, more and more young people without physical disabilities are increasingly opting for a bathroom renovation. Many of them think into the future and make their bathroom barrier-free, that is age-appropriate. The reason: At a young age, a bathroom suitable for senior citizens especially brings comfort, later it can save the move to a nursing home.
But what does all belong in a accessible and senior-friendly bathroom? Here you will find the most important sanitary articles, which must not be missing:
Accessible/Disabled WC: The self-contained walk to the toilet is one of the most important aspects that you want to preserve in old age and physical restrictions. With the accessible WC frame and a matching toilet this is not a problem. There are both toilets that are individually adjustable in height as well as those that are mounted elevated. Care should also be taken that the toilets have a longer projection. Thus, the sitting and getting up as well as the transfer for wheelchair users are noticeably easier.
Accessible/Disable basin: It is easy to forget how problematic the use of washbasins for older and physically handicapped people can become. For example, if the siphon keeps the washbasin in the way and wheelchair users can not drive completely to the wash basin or you can not put a chair up to the front. Therefore, it is important to resort to wheelchair-accessible basins. Here, the siphon leads into the wall and prevents bruises on the knees. Also, wash basins with a surrounding storage area, where you can place everything within easy reach and do not have to reach into the cupboard. As far as the tap is concerned, ideally this should be contactless via an infrared sensor. A popular alternative to this are single-lever mixers, especially if they are equipped with a scalding protection. Last but not least, the mirror must also be considered at the wash station and has to be mounted lower.
Accessible shower: To enable independent showering, a barrierfree entrance without a protruding edge is required. This reduces the risk of tripping while wheelchair users can easily enter. For this we recommend floor-level shower. These are not only visually up to date and are easy to clean, they are also left flush in the ground so that there is no pitfall anymore. In the best case, floor-level shower surfaces are provided with an anti-slip coating, which promises a safe standing while showering. Additional aids such as a shower seat or a shower handrail provide additional security.
Accessible/Disable bath: difficult to imagine, but possible - even bathing can be tackled independently, for example with sitting baths, shower baths and bathtubs with integrated door. Sitting or step baths provide comfortable bathing moments while sitting, and support entry and exit. Really barrier-free bathing, however, promise only bathtubs with integrated door. Through this you enter the interior, which acts as a shower surface as well as a bathtub. An additional shower enclosure keeps the splash water inside. The mechanical safety lock ensures that the water stays inside when bathing and the door can not be opened again until the water has run out. Of course, baths with integrated grab handles are also welcome - and if these are not included, you can order these as well as angle grips at any time separately.
